Twitter Launches Lists: Here’s a Photographer-Specific Example

by Aaron on October 29, 2009

To-do list book.As mentioned previously, Twitter is rolling out a new feature called lists. What is a Twitter list? A list allows a Twitter user to curate a selection of Twitter users surrounding a particular topic. Lists can be public or private, although they’ll be most useful in a public setting. Not every account has access to lists just yet. If you have list access, you’ll see the links above the “Trending Topics” section on your Twitter homepage.

Lists will help provide guidance and options to answer the “who should photographers follow?” question which I wrote about yesterday. The easiest way to understand lists is to look at an example I’ve created.

@ahockley/photographers is a Twitter list I created with a few of the best photographers on Twitter. If your account has list access, you should be able to see that page and there will be a “Follow” button at the top that lets one easily follow a list (you can also browse to the list page directly and view tweets there).

Have you created a list related to photography or social media? Leave a link in the comments!
