Yesterday Google released Buzz, a new social messaging product that’s being described as a hybrid of Twitter, Foursquare, and Friendfeed. Some in the tech circles are thinking it could be a major game-changer. Google’s rollout seems to be a bit wonky; I don’t yet have full access to the service but I’ll write up a detailed post once I do.
In the meantime, I know what you might be thinking. “Another new tool?” “I just started figuring out Twitter!” “Does this mean I have to do Google Buzz and Facebook?”
Should you dive headfirst into Google Buzz? That’s up to you and how much time you’re willing to invest in a new technology. The time could turn out to be wasted if Buzz doesn’t catch on. On the other hand, the time could pay off if your use of Buzz ends up giving you first-mover advantage for your area. Regardless of how deeply you look at Buzz, you should look at it. Expect a longer review of Google Buzz, with potential uses for photographers, once I have full access.
