Future Blog Content: Schedule Your Posts

by Aaron on September 21, 2009

Events CalendarWhat can you do when you want to keep fresh content on a blog but you know you won’t be able to write? You can write your content in advance and then schedule the posts. WordPress, Blogger, and other major blog platforms offer the ability to schedule posts for future publication. Write up your post as usual, but instead of publishing it immediate, schedule it for a future date or time. I briefly talked about this technique when I wrote about whether or not to blog on holidays.

In WordPress, instead of clicking the Publish button, click the “Edit” link right above it (next to where it says “Publish Immediately”). Pick a date and time, then click “Schedule.” That’s it. When that date and time are reached, the post will be published.

This can be a useful technique if you’re going to be on vacation, very busy with client work, or simply want to schedule your content in advance.
