Greetings from Las Vegas! I’m here for Blog World Expo, a gathering of a few thousand bloggers and other social media professionals. I’ll be attending two full days of conference sessions as well as checking out what new and innovative products are being shown by various vendors in the exhibit hall.
Why should you care? Because I’m a nice guy and (as we all learned in kindergarten) nice guys will share. I expect that I’ll come back with a bunch of great ideas for new and creative ways that photographers can use social media including blogging, Twitter, Facebook, and more. I already have a couple new projects for Social Photo Talk that I’ll be unveiling in the coming weeks.
Last night was the first of two photowalks that have been informally organized by Blog World attendees. Last night the walk organizer was Victor Cajiao, the guy behind the Typical Shutterbug podcast. We met in the evening near the Bellagio and walked along the Las Vegas Strip. While I love taking photos of Las Vegas at night, that wasn’t my primary motivation for attending the photowalk. My real goal was networking: if one wanted to meet a bunch of smart photographers using social media, there’s really no better place than a photowalk at a blogging conference. I met a group of really bright photographers from a variety of locations and backgrounds. More importantly, I met a couple specific people that will allow me to bring even more great things to Social Photo Talk.
What things am I talking about? You’ll find out… all in good time.
